Britney Spears is closing the door on the Summit.
The 26-year-old pop star has put her estate in the gated Beverly Hills community, the same residence over which helicopters circled to better chronicle her meltdown in January, on the market for $7.9 million, E! News confirmed Tuesday.
Spears bought the house in December 2007 for about $7 million. She had quietly been shopping the property since June but there were no takers, according to a source, prompting her decision to publicly list the home with Sotheby's International Realty.
The Mediterranean-style mansion measures 7,500 square feet, comprising six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms, as well as a library, media room and maid’s quarters. A second-floor balcony overlooks an open living room and kitchen with an adjacent screening room. There are also a pool and hot tub in the backyard, according to the Los Angeles Times' Hot Property blog, which first reported the real estate shakeup.
While Spears may have sold millions of records, she hasn't been a hit with some of her neighbors, namely the ones who've complained about the constant paparazzi presence and, in less happy times, the ambulances and cop cars that made a visit or two to the Summit earlier this year.
Neighbor Ed Mc McMahon, for one, has publicly cited Spears as one of the reasons why in the past two years he has not received a single offer on his 7,000-square-foot home that recently sold for more than $3 million less than its original asking price.
Calls to Calabasas realtor Tomer Fridman of Ewing & Associates, Sotheby's International Realty, for comment were not immediately returned.
Spears has been said to be shopping for new digs in Malibu-adjacent Calabasas, an upper-class enclave in the San Fernando Valley that's just teeming with gated communities and young families.
In asking a court commissioner to approve the transaction, Spears' camp stated that she was seeking a "lower density, more quiet and less trafficked neighborhood, that is also more accessible to parks and recreation areas" to better suit her little ones, 3-year-old Sean and 2-year-old Jayden.
